What a screen printing quote brief should include
A clear brief gives the print team enough context to check the job and identify what still needs a decision.
Short answer: Share the garment and source, colours and quantities by size, artwork files, print locations, print dimensions, colour references, finishing, deadline and delivery needs. Ask the screen printer to confirm setup, garment suitability, colour handling and the final proof.
Keep every garment and colourway separate
List each garment style as a separate line. Include the product name or code, supplier, fit and garment colour. Add the quantity for every size and colourway instead of providing only one total. Mention customer supplied garments and how they will arrive at the print house.
If you are ordering several styles, do not assume that the same print area, decoration method or garment source applies to all of them.
Make artwork and placement clear
- Attach the approved artwork and identify the version to quote
- Name each print location, such as left chest, centre front or upper back
- Give the intended print width or height and explain which dimension is fixed
- Share a visual reference that shows placement on the garment
- List the requested ink colours and give Pantone references where available
A displayed screen colour is only a reference. Ask the print team how the colour will be matched on the chosen fabric and what approval sample or proof is needed.
List the production decisions still open
Tell the printer whether you need garments supplied or only printed. Include labels, packaging and other finishing that affects the work. Give the target delivery date and destination. State whether the date is fixed or preferred.
For dark garments, special fabrics, small details or unusual artwork, ask the printer to review suitability. Avoid promising a universal result before the production team checks the actual garment and artwork.
Screen printer quote checklist
- Garment style, source and fabric details
- Colour and size breakdown with a quantity per variant
- Approved artwork files and colour references
- Print locations and dimensions on each garment
- Labels, finishing, deadline and delivery destination
- Named person responsible for quote and proof approval
Before the job enters production
Review the quote against the garment lines and full quantity matrix. Confirm which setup charges, print locations, garments and finishing are included. Keep the approved artwork and proof version with the job record. The screen printer should confirm the final production details before printing starts.
Print House is a local planning preview. It does not yet send live customer quotations or production messages.
Common questions
Should I specify a Pantone colour?
Share a Pantone reference when you have one, along with a physical sample if exact colour matching is important. Ask the print shop what it can match on the chosen fabric and process.
Can I send one total quantity for several sizes?
Give a quantity by size and colour for each garment style. The print team needs the variant breakdown to prepare the work and check the quote.
Does a digital mockup approve the print?
No. A mockup helps communicate the design. Confirm the print proof and any required physical sample with the print shop before production.
